Shortly after the notification of acceptance, all participants will receive a General Information Package (GIP) with the complete of information about the International Summer School on Radar/SAR, e.g. about payment methods, the program, and travel tip, etc.

Here, you will find the answers to some frequently asked questions.

If you have any further questions about the participation or the Summer School program, please contact us using the contact details on the right.

  • Generally, yes. The International Summer School on Radar/SAR is open to both students and postgraduates as well as young scientists from universities and industry. We do, however, need proof of the corresponding basic radar knowledge to ensure that all participants will be able to understand the learning contents and that the group dynamics will facilitate an ideal learning environment for all participants.

You can provide us with these proofs along with your application documents by means of certificates, course certificates, relevant letters of recommendation, or your own credible explanations about your level of knowledge.  You will then find out if you have been admitted to the Summer School once we have evaluated the application documents of all applicants.

  • University certificates, course certificates, and similar documents will inform us about the applicants’ radar knowledge and their motivation to participate in the International Summer School on Radar/SAR. These documents helps us to form a group of students with similar levels of knowledge, of matching interests and to create an ideal environment for effective learning at the Summer School.

Since there are often significant differences between university certificates and especially course certificates, we are not referring to any specific certificate. Please send us those certificates that are best suited to give us an idea of your level of education and your area of interest regarding radar/SAR.

  • We need a copy of your photo ID to verify your identity and to obtain your official address for organizational handling, billing, and similar tasks.

If you need an invoice addressed to someone else (e.g. your employer), please provide the correct billing address in the registration form. The billing address cannot be changed once the invoice has been issued.

  • The visa requirements for a stay in Germany are available on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office at https://www.studying-in-germany.org/german-student-visa/

You will have to check for yourself whether you need a visa to stay in Germany for the International Summer School on Radar/SAR and also submit the application yourself!

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any assistance with this process. As organizer we can only support you with a letter of confirmation about your successful application and your acceptance to the International Summer School on Radar/SAR.

Important: The processing of visa applications by the authorities often takes a quite long time. So please check as soon as possible if you need a visa and apply for it in time!
